                      Information For Applicant

We want you to feel comfortable about your paramedical exam; we hope you find this information insightful.

The Exam

Every paramedical exam is different. The insurance companies indicate which exams are to be completed, based on many factors, including age, type of policy and policy amount.  We will be only be completing those exams required by the insurance company.  All of your test results will be returned to the insurance company and will be kept confidential.  If you are interested in obtaining a copy of your test results, you may request the information from your insurance agent.

Your paramedical exam may include completing some simple paperwork and providing a urine sample, or it may require a more extensive medical history and vitals signs, along with a small blood sample.  Some policies require more in depth medical studies, including an EKG test or a more complete physical exam completed by a physician.  Most exams will be completed by a trained Paramedical Examiner and will require between 15 to 40 minutes to complete, depending upon the insurance company's requirements.  Our examiners will do everything possible to make your exam as comfortable, convenient, and as quick as possible.

Once your insurance agent has notified us of the paramedical exam request, we will contact you by phone to schedule an appointment to complete the exam at your home or work place.  As our Paramedical Examiners often have a full day of exams, if you are unable to keep your scheduled appointment, please notify your examiner as soon as possible prior to the exam.

You will need to provide specific information to your examiner upon arrival:
  • Picture Identification (driver's license or state ID).
  • Social Security Number
  • Physicians' name, address, and phone number.
  • Dates and reasons for past visits to your physician(s), especially within the past 5 years.
  • Any medications (both prescription and non-prescription), vitamins, and/or herbal supplements, you are currently taking - your examiner will need both the names of the medication(s), as well as the dosages.

You may want to follow these helpful suggestions to obtain the best examination results:

  • Get a good nights rest the night before the exam. Relax 10-15 minutes prior to the appointment.
  • Avoid caffeinated beverages prior to the exam.
  • Avoid smoking for at least 30 minutes prior to the exam.
  • Drink at least 1 glass of water, one hour before your appointment, to help in obtaining a urine specimen. Also, it is easier to obtain a blood sample from a well hydrated body.
  • Avoid any alcoholic beverages for at least 24 hours prior to your exam.
  • Avoid exercise for one hour prior to your exam.  Strenuous activity may result in inaccurate urine/blood test results.
  • In many cases, a fasting blood sample is required.  You will be informed if fasting is required by the insurance company. *** In all cases, it is recommended that you fast 3-4 hours prior to the examination.  During that period you may consume water.
